Integrative Massage
In Integrative Massage, the massage therapist uses a variety of massage techniques for a seamless session, tailored for each client. Her training, experience and intuition all come into play to offer the most beneficial and enjoyable experience, for each client. A session may include Swedish, Deep Muscle, Myofascial release, Hot stones, Reiki, Polarity, etc. As with any session, there is a discussion beforehand of the client’s needs and preferences.

Swedish Massage
Swedish massage techniques are the foundation of most western massages. The techniques are:
  • Effleurage: Slow rhythmic strokes with the full palm to warm up the muscles, increase circulation, and initiate the relaxation response. These strokes are used throughout the session to encourage a feeling of whole body connectedness.
  • Petrissage: Kneading the muscle areas to increase the cleansing and releasing of tissue. Using the whole hand to grasp, lift and release a muscle or muscle group with alternate hands.
  • Friction: Using the balls of the thumb or fingers the soft tissue is compressed with the bone underneath. This can help the specific area to release and cleanse.
  • Tapotement:  The massage therapist uses arhythmic tapping to stimulate blood flow across the body.
  • Vibration: This technique involves rhythmic shaking of the massage area. By doing so, the body loosens up and relaxes

Hot Stone Massage
Smooth stones are brought to a comfortable heated temperature and placed on the skin at certain areas, such as along the spine. They may also be held in the massage therapist’s hands during long strokes, or other massage techniques. Many people enjoy the warmth and pressure and feel of the stones, facilitating deeper relaxation and release.

Geriatric Massage
Geriatric Massage is similar to traditional massage therapy but modified to be safer for the aging body.
Like all massage therapy, there are many benefits, including stress reduction, improved mental outlook and quality of life, help with pain management, increased blood circulation and better sleep, and the healing power of human touch.

To ensure a more enjoyable and safer experience, the massage therapist gives special consideration to the condition of the skin, limitation of joints, positions that need to be modified, and mobility assistance needed such as help getting on or off the table. Often the pressure is lighter, according to the client’s comfort preference
Before beginning the session, it is important that the client inform the massage therapist of chronic conditions like arthritis, cancer, circulatory conditions, diabetes, gastrointestinal conditions, or heart conditions.

About Victoria
Nurturing, relaxing, deeply rejuvenating, grounding….these words describe a massage session with Victoria.
Raised in a rural natural setting, Victoria naturally brings a sense of groundedness, harmony, and personal connection to her bodywork.

She began with a education in Nutrition (BS degree in 1978) and has experience working in public health.

In 1982 she discovered Massage Therapy, and graduated from the Atlanta School of Massage. From the first day of massage school, she realized she had discovered a significant part of her life’s purpose. Early on, she learned and understood the power of therapeutic touch in increasing well-being, balance, and healing. This understanding continues to increase.

She has training in many areas of bodywork, and incorporates them as needed, in her sessions. Some of her trainings include: Swedish, deep muscle, myofascial, neuromuscular therapy, Reiki, Polarity, reflexology, emotional release, intercostal work to help respiratory issues, geriatric massage, infant and maternal massage, hot stones, trigger points, lymphatic drainage and Esalen massage and Traeger.

Victoria is also a Registered Nurse (receiving her RN degree in 2010).As an RN she has worked in various settings, including hospice, where her nurturing presence was especially appreciated.
