About Michele's work
Michele graduated from Fordham University in 2013 and since then has worked with diverse populations in a variety of settings. She specializes in anxiety & depression disorders with an emphasis on assisting her clients in understanding how their thinking and worldview impacts their mood, behavior and overall functioning. Seeing Michele as a therapist means you will have to be 100% honest with yourself and open to the idea of being a better person.
Caring. Compassionate. Kind. These are the words that describe Michele as a person and as a therapist. It is evident that Michele truly believes in talking to people in a way that makes them feel comfortable & supported. Michele can be described as a ‘different kind of therapist’ meaning that she will do what is necessary to help you to understand what your real issues are and push you to discover your best self.
Michele utilizes EMDR and CBT in her psychotherapy sessions. EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing of the traumatic memory network, so that information processing is enhanced, with new associations forged between the traumatic memory and more adaptive memories or information. These new associations are thought to result in complete information processing, new learning, elimination of emotional distress, and development of cognitive insights. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). You work with a mental health counselor (psychotherapist or therapist) in a structured way, attending a limited number of sessions. CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.
